The Institute for
Environmental
Studies (IES) is a
private academic
organisation that
offers educational
programmes and
undertakes research
within the
environmental
sciences. Located in
Malta, at the centre
of the
Mediterranean, the
IES offers an ideal
setting for persons
seeking to acquire
knowledge on aspects
of the environment
in a regional
setting, or to
collaborate in
environmental
research. Malta is
the southernmost
European country,
and because of its
strategic location
between southern
Europe and North
Africa, it is easily
accessible to
countries that
border the
Mediterranean Sea
and offers a central
setting for the
region.
The IES is certified
as a Tuition Centre
by the Ministry of
Education
(Malta) (Certificate
No.: 14/2007).
Most of the
educational
programmes offered
by the IES are
related to aspects
of the Mediterranean
environment, and are
offered as short
courses. Therefore,
the IES offers an
opportunity for local
and international
participants to
enhance their
knowledge of the
Mediterranean's
environmental
characteristics.
At the IES, you
can learn about the
Mediterranean's
underwater habitats
and marine life, or
those that
characterise the
terrestrial and
freshwater
environment! Enjoy
our exciting
fieldwork sessions
and acquire
first-hand
experience from our
dedicated team of
scientists in the
laboratory and
field. If you intend
to spend your
holidays in Malta,
why not combine your
vacation with a
short course in
natural history!
For the
undergraduate or
postgraduate
student, we offer
opportunities of
further training in
the environmental
sciences. Take up a
course in scientific
diving or accompany
our team in ongoing
environmental
research and
monitoring
programmes!
At the IES, we
take pride in
offering a range of
courses, most of
which have been
specifically
designed for a wide
ranging audience
that extends from
lay people to
persons having
postgraduate
qualifications.
